Remember Correctly

We ended 2009 at In Focus with a super encouraging time of remembering all that God had done for us over the last 12 months.  The whole concept of “remembering correctly” was the theme for the entire morning, which culminated with Communion and remembering the sacrifice Jesus made for all of us.

I decided to list some of the points (musings) from yesterday’s message.  Please understand that all of these fall into the “remembering correctly” category.  That is, remembering with God’s perspective as our backdrop and our focus on Him. Hope this encourages you.

  • Remembering what God did yesterday allows us to believe Him for today.
  • Remembering correctly allows us to step out in faith even when we don’t see how God could come through.
  • Remembering correctly allows us to be anchored to truth and reality instead of tossed by imaginations and lies.
  • Remembering correctly allows us to not forget to lead others to Christ (as we remember where we came from).
  • Remembering gets us out of a vicious cycle and keeps us in a victorious cycle
  • Sometimes we need help remembering correctly (and it is our job to help others in the Body of Christ remember the truth).
  • God is gracious even when we forget who He is, what He has done, and how much He has done for us!

I hope that you remember all the great things that God has done for you in 2009 so that you can be positioned correctly to see even greater things in your life in 2010.  When all else fails, remember the cross, the broken body, the shed blood and the resurrection of Jesus.  Moving forward from there is easy.

  • The sermon was great. I love to be reminded of what God has done in our lives and in the people around us. It gives hope for the future, and stirs my heart to thankfulness! The verse in Neh was especially powerful!
